The Nice-Dragon Screen

话说我身后可是原大圆镜智宝殿前的影壁----九龙壁，
建于乾隆二十一年(1756年 ) 。
壁高5.96米，厚1.60米，长25.52米。

建在青白石基座上，壁身为城砖所砌，四面用424块七彩琉璃瓦镶嵌而成，壁顶为庑殿式。
两面各有九条彩色大蟠龙，飞腾戏珠于波涛云际之中。
壁的正脊，岔脊，漏水，勾头，线砖等地方也都有龙的踪迹，总共有大小蟠龙635条。
九龙壁蕴藏着皇权和天子之尊的象征，因为九是阳数的最高数，龙是封建帝王的象征，中国现存三座古代九龙壁，惟独这座是双面壁，它是中国琉璃建筑艺术的精华。

Nine-Dragon Screen ---from Bei Jing

This Nine Dragon Screen constructed of tiles of seven colours was formerly the screen in front of the Da Yuan Jing Zhi Bao Dian, erected in 1756;
it is 5.96 meters high, 1.60 meters thick and 25.52 meters long.
On both sides there are nine flying dragons playing with dragon pearls. There are 635 dragons of all sides on the screen.
This screen, the only one in China decorated on both sides, is the premier example of Chinese glazed tile art.
